Sacred Memories

Sacred Ibis. These slightly more elegant cousins of the infamous Hadeda always remind me of childhood visits to my grandfather's farm in Mpumalanga. Sadly they are now extinct in their historic home, Egypt. In Ancient Egypt, the Southern Bald Ibis was considered the personification of the god Thoth, who was associated with the arts and wisdom.
